U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that there is a “realistic opportunity” to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip by next week, noting that the Palestinian movement Hamas had responded “positively” to American proposals.
In a press briefing, Trump said, “There is a possibility of reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza by next week.”
He emphasized that Washington had received a response from Hamas regarding the truce proposal that was “positive in spirit,” referencing the U.S.-led initiative to end the fighting in the besieged enclave.
