The Secretary-General of Lebanese Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, stressed that a ceasefire means a complete halt to all hostile acts, affirming that the party is open to the fullest cooperation with the Lebanese authorities, and explaining that the ceasefire would not have been achieved without the jihad of the resistance fighters on the fronts.
In a statement on Saturday evening, he said: “A ceasefire means a complete halt to all hostile acts. Because we do not trust this enemy, the resistance fighters will remain in the field with their fingers on the trigger, and they will respond to the aggression’s violations accordingly. There is no ceasefire from the resistance side alone; it must be from both sides. We will not accept the path of fifteen months of patience with Israeli aggression while waiting for diplomacy that has achieved nothing.”
He explained that the next step is the implementation of the five points: a permanent cessation of aggression throughout Lebanon, by air, land, and sea; the withdrawal of the Israeli enemy from occupied territories up to the borders; the release of prisoners; the return of people to their villages and towns up to the borders; and reconstruction with Arab international support and national responsibility.
Sheikh Naim Qassem said: “The battlefield has proven to be the decisive factor. Successful policy is one that benefits from its outcomes as a source of strength to force the Israeli enemy to submit, in order to secure Lebanon’s rights and the rights of its citizens to their land and sovereignty, within a cooperative national integration that closes the doors to sedition and the exploitation of our country by foreigners.”
He stressed that “Hezbollah is open to the fullest cooperation with the Lebanese authorities on a new page based on achieving the sovereignty of our nation Lebanon, within the framework of unity, preventing sedition, and investing the capabilities of strength within a national security strategy. We build our nation Lebanon together, prevent foreigners from imposing guardianship and achieving the Israeli enemy’s political goals, and translate sovereignty and citizen protection through clear procedures and plans.”
The Secretary-General of Hezbollah said that the temporary ceasefire would not have been achieved without the jihad of the resistance fighters on the honorable southern fronts, in a legendary performance that amazed the world, and in a martyred steadfastness before the Israeli-American enemy despite a vast imbalance in military power.
He added: “The resistance fighters have proven that their three-dimensional weapon – faith, will, and capability – is stronger than all the armies of the aggressors, and that in Lebanon there are those who sacrifice the precious and the dear for liberation, dignity, and independence. Their progress toward the noble goal is not hindered by the existence of the faint-hearted, those who dampen spirits and stab in the back, because they have first dedicated their foreheads to Almighty Allah, and are surrounded by a dear, sacrificing people who have endured killing, destruction, displacement, and the costs of dignity and pride – a people from all sects, denominations, and regions, with their direction toward southern Lebanon, because all of Lebanon is its south. When the south smiles and is liberated, all of Lebanon smiles and is liberated.”
He expressed “thanks to Almighty Allah first, for He is the Supporter and the Helper; thanks to the heroes of the resistance who broke the advance of the Israeli enemy despite its massing of one hundred thousand soldiers on the border, and it was unable to reach the Litani, neither in the first week as planned, nor in 45 days in the battle of ‘Al-Asf Al-Ma’kul’ (The Devouring Storm); and thanks are also extended to the sacrifices and giving of the people, the supporters, and the lovers.”
Sheikh Qassem continued: “Thirdly, thanks to the Islamic Republic of Iran, leadership and people, which supported and backed, and linked the ceasefire in the Pakistan agreement to its cessation in Lebanon explicitly in the official announcement. Then it closed the Strait of Hormuz in response to the American breach of the ceasefire in Lebanon, which led to American submission and forcing the Israeli enemy to halt it, which in turn led to the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. We have followed this path moment by moment. We must also thank Pakistan’s patronage and all those who helped, even with statements in support of the ceasefire in Lebanon.”
He said: “We have read a statement issued by the US State Department titled ‘The Ceasefire Agreement between Lebanon and Israel – April 2026,’ issued after the ceasefire went into effect. It means nothing on the practical level, but it is an insult to our country and nation Lebanon, that America dictates its text and speaks on behalf of the Lebanese government. At the beginning of the statement, it says: ‘The Government of Israel and the Government of Lebanon have agreed to the text of the following statement.’ Everyone knows that the Lebanese government did not meet and did not approve this statement. Enough of burdening Lebanon with these insults in direct negotiation with the Israeli enemy to listen to its dictates, and in the shameful scene in Washington where tyranny circles around its prey, issuing positions on behalf of Lebanon. This is a slippery slope that never ends.”
He continued: “Enough. The people of Lebanon are dear, and they will remain so through mutual support and solidarity with the army, the people, the resistance, and the political authority that wants Lebanon’s independence and liberation.”
Sheikh Qassem concluded his statement by saying: “Israel, along with the tyrants of the earth, has not defeated us, and it will not defeat us, especially after the sacrifices of the martyrs, foremost among them the master of the nation’s martyrs, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyed Al-Hashemi, and all the martyrs, and the sacrifices of the wounded, prisoners, and the great people. Lebanon’s head will remain high with its sacrificing sons.”
