Israeli occupation forces carried out three airstrikes on Wednesday morning targeting vehicles along the international highway linking Beirut to southern Lebanon, marking a new escalation despite the ceasefire that has been in effect since April 17.
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, an Israeli strike first targeted a vehicle on the Jiyeh highway in Mount Lebanon, around 20 kilometers south of Beirut, before a second strike hit another car on the same road shortly afterward.
Al Mayadeen later reported a third Israeli strike targeting a vehicle in the Jiyeh area of the Chouf district.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health additionally reported that eight people were martyred, including two children, in Israeli strikes targeting Barja, Jiyeh, and Saadiyat on the Saida-South coastal highway.
Additionally, an Israeli drone strike targeted a car in the northern entrance to the city of Saida, killing one and injuring another.
In total, nine people were killed in the aforementioned airstrikes, while several others were injured.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli aircraft also targeted a vehicle near the al-Maaliya junction south of Tyre, while another attack struck the outskirts of the town of Burj al-Shamali.
Additional Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted the towns of al-Mansouri, Baraachit, Kawnin, and Shaqra, as well as the towns of al-Hallousiyeh and Debaal, in southern Lebanon.
Lebanon announced on Tuesday that at least 380 people, including 22 children and 39 women, have been killed in Israeli attacks since the ceasefire took effect on April 17.
