Massive protests in European capitals commemorating Palestinian Nakba anniversary

A number of European capitals and cities witnessed massive popular protests on Sunday marking the 78th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, and denouncing the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, amid escalating calls for an immediate ceasefire and imposing an arms embargo on the Zionist enemy.

In Spain, large marches took place in several cities where Palestinian flags were raised and chants were heard demanding an end to the war on Gaza and accountability for those responsible, as part of a rising wave of popular solidarity with the Palestinian cause, according to the Palestine Online website.

These protests coincided with the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in the Austrian capital Vienna, where the event witnessed a boycott wave from five countries in protest at the occupied entity’s participation, while thousands of protesters gathered outside the hosting hall rejecting what they described as the exploitation of art to polish political crimes.

In Paris and Berlin, human rights and leftist organizations organized massive marches calling for the prosecution of enemy leaders before international courts, and for halting trade and military agreements with the entity, indicating the expanding scope of popular anger in the European street and the growing gap between popular and official positions regarding the war in Gaza.
