Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Baghaei affirmed on Sunday that the full implementation of the first clause of the Memorandum of Understanding on ending the war, including the cessation of Zionist military operations and withdrawal from all Lebanese territory, is a fundamental condition for reaching a final and lasting agreement that will solidify stability in the region.
Baghaei stated, in remarks carried by the Iranian news agency Tasnim, that preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of its people is a prerequisite for the sustainability of any agreement related to ending the war. He emphasized that Iran has affirmed this principle based on the UN Charter and international law.
He added that Tehran, in both the ceasefire agreement of April 8 and the Memorandum of Understanding signed on June 18, has placed ending the war and Zionist military operations in Lebanon at the top of its priorities, alongside ending the war against Iran, and affirmed its continued commitment to implementing these agreements.
Baghaei called on the United States to fulfill its obligations under Article 1 of the Memorandum of Understanding and to take the necessary measures to compel the Zionist entity to cease all its military operations in various Lebanese regions, calling for the establishment of a timetable as soon as possible for the unconditional withdrawal from the occupied Lebanese territories.
