Sharif: Islamabad MoU did not cover Iranian ballistic missiles

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Tuesday that the US–Iran memorandum of understanding did not include Iran’s ballistic missile program, stressing that it is unacceptable for some countries to possess such weapons while others are denied them.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Islamabad, Sharif said the issue was not discussed and that Iran was unwilling to address it.

He called the exclusion of Iran from missile capabilities a double standard, warning against those he said were trying to sabotage the agreement between Washington and Tehran.

Sharif also reaffirmed Pakistan’s role in supporting dialogue between the two sides to promote peace.
