
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) confirmed on Friday that global food prices declined in the month of May by 0.2 percent compared to the revised level of the previous April.
The FAO stated that the average value of its Food Price Index, which measures changes in a basket of globally traded food commodities, reached 130.8 points in May, a slight decrease from its revised April level of 131 points, according to the Qatar News Agency.
In a separate report, the FAO estimated global cereal production for the 2026/2027 season at approximately 2.982 billion tons, a decrease of two percent on an annual basis.
