Belgian capital, Brussels, witnessed a massive demonstration on Sunday, attended by tens of thousands of citizens, civil society organizations, unions, and associations, under the slogan “We Draw the Red Line,” in solidarity with Palestine and condemning the war of extermination.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), the marchers sent a clear message that all red lines in Gaza had been crossed long ago, and that silence is no longer acceptable. The demonstration was a majestic scene, “a sea of humanity drawing a red line in which free peoples expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian cause.”
The march began at Brussels-North Square, with the attendance and participation of the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the European Union, Amal Jadou, and embassy staff. Participants formed a massive human chain in the heart of the capital, wearing red clothes to express the red line that peoples refuse to cross in the face of the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.
Jadou affirmed that the Palestinian people will not forget this historic stance, which reflects the living human conscience of Europe. She emphasized the need for continued popular pressure until European governments act to support justice and stop the crimes committed in Gaza.
She added, “Today, you are drawing a red line on behalf of all of humanity. Today, we say with one voice: Enough of the siege, enough of the bombing, enough of the disregard for children’s rights, enough of the silence. This demonstration means a lot to our people who are bleeding but are steadfast thanks to you.”
The march raised clear slogans against genocide and ethnic cleansing, the use of hunger as a weapon, the indiscriminate bombing, and the systematic destruction of homes and residential neighborhoods. They condemned the policy of impunity and the ongoing Israeli crimes against civilians, demanding accountability from European governments that continue to support the enemy and turn a blind eye to these crimes despite their claim to defend human rights.
The event emphasized its demands to end the occupation, halt arms exports to Israel, impose immediate sanctions on it, and support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
It’s worth noting that this march is an extension of a series of actions that have taken place in Belgium over the past year and a half in solidarity with Palestine, with the participation of dozens of Belgian and international organizations.
