An Israeli patrol consisting of five military vehicles crossed from its base in Tal Ahmar al-Gharbi deep into the village of Ain Ziwan, located in the Syrian province of Quneitra near the border strip with the occupied Golan Heights.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), citing local sources on Saturday, reported that the infiltrating force established a checkpoint on the main road leading to the area. Israeli troops began searching and checking the identities of civilians and passersby, causing a state of tension and caution among the local residents.
This movement comes amid a rising frequency of Israeli ground incursions into Syrian territory. Israeli forces have been establishing temporary observation posts and conducting sweeping operations in towns adjacent to the ceasefire line, reportedly without opposition from Syrian military forces deployed in the region.
In a separate incident on Friday evening, SOHR monitored another Israeli incursion in the northern Quneitra countryside. A force of three vehicles entered through the entrance of Beer Ajam toward the village of Bariqa, stopping briefly near the Al-Kabbas water well.
Simultaneously, another unit comprising a single vehicle entered the village of Umm al-Izam, where it established a temporary checkpoint at the intersection of the villages of Al-Musheirifa and Ruwaihina.
