Hezbollah condemns US sanctions as attempt to intimidate Lebanese, support Zionist aggression

Hezbollah in Lebanon on Thursday evening condemned the sanctions imposed by the US Departments of State and Treasury on Lebanese parliamentarians, army and general security officers, and officials from Hezbollah and the Amal movement, considering them an attempt by America to intimidate the Lebanese people in order to reinforce the Zionist aggression against our country and give it a false political boost after the failure of its crimes to deter the Lebanese from exercising their legitimate right to resistance in defence of their homeland.

Hezbollah said in a statement published by its affiliated Al Manar channel that the charge brought by the US administration against our deputies and officials is their rejection of disarming the resistance and confronting the surrender projects that the US administration is trying to drag our country into for the benefit of the Zionist entity, and this charge applies to the majority of the people who cling to the resistance and reject surrender.

It affirmed that these sanctions are a badge of honour on the chests of those targeted and further confirmation of the correctness of our choice, and their effects are not worth the ink with which they were written, and they will have no practical impact on our choices or on the continued work of our brothers and officials in serving their people and defending their interests and sovereignty.

Hezbollah added that targeting Lebanese officers on the eve of meetings at the Pentagon is an open attempt to intimidate our official security institutions and subject the state to the conditions of American guardianship.

It pointed out that this decision is a matter for those who claim friendship with the United States, which seeks to undermine national institutions, adding that the Lebanese authority must defend its constitutional, security and military institutions to preserve national sovereignty and the dignity of Lebanon and the Lebanese.

The US Departments of State and Treasury had imposed sanctions on nine individuals in Lebanon, allegedly for obstructing the peace process and undermining efforts aimed at achieving stability.
