Iran: Resumption of passenger flights from two airports and operation of others within days

The deputy head of the Iran Civil Aviation Organization, Hamid Reza Saniee, announced the issuance of permits to resume and operate passenger flights at Imam Khomeini and Mehrabad airports in the capital Tehran, starting from Monday.

Saniee said in a statement to the Iranian news agency (IRNA) that the operation of passenger flights will also be available and possible at the airports of Urmia, Kermanshah, Abadan, Shiraz, Kerman, Rasht, Yazd, Zahedan, Gorgan, and Birjand as of next Saturday, April 25.

He added that “the operation of other areas will be carried out gradually in coordination with the relevant military authorities,” noting that Iranian authorities have attempted to open the airspace in the central and western regions of the country so that all areas can access flights in the first stage.

He pointed out that Hajj flights will be possible, explaining that about 90 air cargo flights have been carried out since the beginning of the war to transport medicines and raw materials needed for the pharmaceutical industry, and these flights are still ongoing.
